In this lecture we will explain quantitative and qualitative variables.

Variables whose values result from counting or measuring something are known as quantitative variables. Examples: height, weight, age etc.

A qualitative variable aka categorical variable, is a variable that isn’t numerical. It describes data that fits into categories. Example: Gender can have values like male and female which is not numerical. Therefore, gender is a qualitative variable.
